Dining Table and Door Step

I am a spoilt dog. Did I say that already? I don't eat on my own. When it's time for my meals, I jump up on the dining chair and wait at the table while mommy gets me food in my bowl. And no I still don't eat it. I wait for her to feed me. Hey, I didn't ask to be spoilt ok. I didnt eat for a few days, and then she started feeding me and I thought well, this is easier than me having to eat on my own. She even cleans my mouth and face with water after I am done eating, so that saves me the trouble of licking my face too. I sit at the table even if I want to go for my walks. How do my folks know the difference? If its for food, I just sit there licking my chops. If it's for a walk, i first jump on daddy, preferably his butt, then I sniff the draw where my leash is kept and then I go and sit at the table. See, I have trained my humans well.

The other place I love to sit is at the door step. I sometimes even fall asleep there waiting for something, anything to go by so I can bark. When daddy or mommy open the door, I tear out like mad and rush out to bark. More often than not, my street is boring with little or no activity, but I never lose hope. 8 years and I still tear out of the door like my life depends on it. Come visit me sometime, and I'll greet you at my door step.

Chapathis, Curd, Chew Sticks and Cuddles

Those are my most favorite things in the world. Chapatis (Indian bread made of wheat), Chew Sticks, Curd and Cuddles. I will do anything for these - I will even share my toys with you (ok let me rethink that).

I am a fussy eater. I have my likes and dislikes when it comes to food. Mom used to give me fruits or bicuits or eggs for breakfast. Eggs I love but not fruits. yucky. I even beat up a grape and an orange once because my taste buds went all haywire when I ate them. Daddy started eating breakfast at home after a bad tummy and mom made chapathis for him. I beg and beg and beg until he gives me most of the chapathis. And then when mom packs his lunch box, I again beg and I get a morsel or two. When mom eats lunch I again beg and beg and beg - please note mom feeds me first before she eats. She gives me a good serving of curd - that's another favorite of mine. I eat my fill and run to her bed and wriggle and wriggle and wriggle. Then I hear her taking out her plate and filling it up with chapathi and curd, I run out and sit in front of her and nudge her plate with my nose. And I give her that big Bambi eyes. Who can resist that? I have gorgeous eyes - people keep telling me that. You can see in the picture above and decide for yourself. So then , coming back to begging. Yes I do that a lot. But hey I am a dog (just found out, still searching for proof) and that's what I am supposed to do.

Chew Sticks - they are my world. There are so many flavors. I wait desperately for 4 pm when mom gives me one chew stick . I know it , I know the time. At around four, I see her walking towards the kitchen, I keep my ears up , then she opens the cabinet and I dash into the kitchen and sit behind her like a good boy. Earlier she used to trip over me, but now I have trained her well. She gives me a chew stick and I run off with it to the shoe rack. I choose the best shoes - preferably daddy's and I use that as my plate to eat the chew stick. What a heavenly feeling that is !

Cuddles! I love cuddles, but more importantly , people love to cuddle me. Can't blame them, I come with the gift of abundant fur. And mom says I smell like a little drop of heaven. I am a big baby at times. I nudge people for cuddles, I sit with my butt planted on their feet for a bit of a cuddle and a scratch behind my ear, and then I flop over on my back and expose my pink belly for people to rub. I don't care how uncomfortable they are when they have to bend over and rub my tummy, but rub they must.

So now you know how to win me over.

Burger

Sissy got me that burger as a gift when she went to Seattle. I couldn't believe it was for me. She squeaked it in my face and I grabbed it and ran and hid behind daddy. But she did not chase me. It was mine all MINE! I love that burger so much. I had it with me at all times. I held it in my mouth so no one took it away, and when I was eating or drinking water, the burger was near my paws at all times. I even slept with it near my nose so if anyone tried to take it, I could snap off their hands. I didn't even chew it up for A WHOLE WEEK and that is a LOT for a chew freak like me. However, a week later, temptation got the better of me and I chewed the squeak thingy out first. It made no noise after that. Then I started chewing off the sides. Mom said it was made of soft plastic and if I swallowed it up, I might choke. So she took it away when I went for my walk one evening and hid it somewhere I can never find :(

Accomplishment

They are here, I can hear them all the time. The tiny little mews that come from the backyard accompanied by mommy's and daddy's croonings and baby talks. Ugh! Why? One cat wasn't enough? They had to have a bunch of babies too? That ONE cat is solely responsible for the 4 other minions that have occupied my house and my people's attention. Its not that I hate them or anything. I want to be a part of all the excitement too. I love babies. They are so tiny and helpless. But somehow my hoomins and the mama cat don't trust me. I wonder why. Sometimes daddy would lift me up and show me the kittens curled up in their box , then the mama cat would get hostile and start hissing at me. I never knew what that meant, she was probably cursing under her breath or something.

One day someone forgot to lock the backyard door. I was minding my own business, sniffing around in the kitchen. Just as I was about to hoist my leg on the garbage bin, I noticed the door sway in the breeze. I looked around stealthily. No humans in sight. I walked towards the door and peeped out. They were all there, out of their boxes, playing and rolling around. They were so wee and tiny, like little balls. I made a dash for them... I wanted to play with them too. I even tried lifting one up, but that wriggly thing got away (its fur stuck up for a long time afterwards tee hee). Then the mama cat came running and hit me hard on my face and mom and dad came running and picked me up and took me away inside. I was only trying to be their fun uncle Dolu. Either no one speaks dog in my house or they are scared of my big white furry frame.

So then anyways, a few days after that, the kitties were shipped off to one of our cousins' much to my relief. So, there! Mission Kitty Riddance ACCOMPLISHED!!

The mama is still around but I think she is tolerable, except when sissy comes home. Then I have the urge to hoist my leg on everything, including my sissy.

My hoomins and their pets

Mom can't seem to get enough of the cats. I love them too - well curious is more like it. I like to watch them play, eat, drink, clean themselves, I like to smell them too occassionally. Fudgie used to be a darling, he loved me too and hung around me all the time, we made a great pair. He crossed over to Sugar Candy Mountain. Now there's this other kitty called Kismat. I don't know what to think of her. I tried to be friendly but she only hisses. She even ate up couple of her own babies. Fudgie once killed some other cat's babies and mom was quite upset, I didnt know what all the fuss was about.

Mom dad and sissy are crazy about Kismat. They dote her. I tried telling them she was only a regular kitten and leave her be. When they didnt listen to me, I thought I had to get their attention, and let that pesky cat know that this was my house. I didn't like it whenever I go to the kitchen , everything smells of her. She rubs herself on every thing in there. It is very irritating. Besides, after the infiltration of cats in my house, the kitchen and the back yard were forbidden places for me.

Finally when I could take it no more, I started peeing in the kitchen, Mom got very upset but she ought to get the message. I didnt like it when mom and dad left me alone in the house and went out, so I started peeing on the couch as well.

I am not proud of my behaviour, I have been a very naughty puppy no doubt. They don't understand what I speak, whats a wee little puppy to do?

Then come the crows. I once managed to catch one, mom got upset. Really that woman is a ticking time bomb you never know what sets her off. She loves me more than she loves her hoomin daughter no doubt, the crow came into the kitchen and i caught it for her. She didnt yell at me or anything , she made me spit out the crow and carried me into the next room. she is a real softie when it comes to furries.

Dad is another furry fanatic. He talks to every dog on the street. I bark at them. When ever mom asks where's bow wow, I run out to see if there are any dogs outside. Sissy says I am a bow wow too, I dont believe her, she is probably just jealous that mom and dad love me more than her.

But sissy is my favouritest person in the whole world. I love to kiss her all the time. I behave like a very good boy when she is around and follow her like a shadow.

Then there are houseflies, I detest them, they make this weird buzzing near me and it irritates my wee pink ears. I try and hide. The other thing I detest next to flies is a bath. I love the rains but I hate the bath.

This in short is my world as of today. Will update you when something changes.

The lil girl downstairs

We got new tenants downstairs. The guy has a shop that sells car accessories. He has a wife and an amazingly cute daughter. The lil girl and I took an instant liking towards each other the very first time I saw her. And she is so much fun. She wants to play with me but when I go near her, she climbs on top of any human around - just like a little monkey. Now I have never seen monkeys but that is what sissy says.
I keep hearing her cry downstairs, "Dolee Dolee". I like the way she says that you know. And her mother comes at times too. She is a sweet woman. She pets me and keeps telling mommy how cute I look tee hee.
So the other day granma and Aunty had come to visit us and aunty got this little girl upstairs and fondled her and played with her and took pictures of her. The girl too liked aunty very much and started coming up more often. She'd sit by the door step or peep through the window and call out my name, 'Dolee Dolee". And I go crazy with excitement because I know just what is coming. Mommy would open the door and she'll climb on mommy's shoulder like a monkey and I'll try to grab her leg. Its like that game where your human suspends a ball by a string and you try to catch it. Boy!!
Oh there she is again, banging on the front door yipeee. "Dolee Doleee", mom open the door woof woof woof....whine whine whine, MOM OPEN THE DOOR !!

The little rascals

Sissy fussing over Tinda
Lots of things happening around here. Tinda, mommy's and daddy's favoritest kitty has been missing from quite sometime now. I'll tell you about Tinda and her gang of kitties-the little rascals sissy and I would like to call them. Their cat mummy used to frequent our house and I hated the sight of her as she used to hiss at me and smack me across the face and all that. Then she had kittens and daddy got them all in a sieve. My I had never seen anything tinier except for the rat in the shoe rack.
The big cat with the kittens

The little rascals sun bathing
One day I heard a lots of mews outside the kitchen door. The big cat had got the very very tiny kittens with her and they were all mewing outside the door. Mummy was very excited and she gave them all lots of milk much to my displeasure. I told her not to, but she wouldn't listen to me. The cat and her babies came home every morning and night. The mews were pretty annoying I must say. By and by the cat left the kittens and went to find greener pastures. The kitties lingered on mewing day and night. I wanted to have a closer look at them but mom was scared if I might eat them up, the way I did to the crow hee hee.
There was this tiniest of the kittens - mom named her Tinda because the kitty's face looked like a Tinda ! My my! She was the most charming of al the kittens and no matter how big the other kittens grew, this one remained dwarfed. And mom fussed over her all the more because of that.
The second mom would try opening the kitchen door, they'd all tumble inside. Sometimes they sat on the window sill and watched mummy cooking or tease me from there since they knew i couldn't climb that high grrrr !
All of a sudden, couple of weeks ago, Tinda goes missing. She hasn't come back to this day. One of the other kittens got adopted sometime ago (we think). Mom was and I guess is still pretty worried about Tinda. She keeps calling sissy and telling her that she just wants to see Tinda once to know that she is hale and hearty. Whatever !
Pssst... one of the other kittens is pregnant now. So that means more annoying mews to come shortly grrrrr

How do I climb the window now !!
oh and the other day, one of the kittens sneaked in to the kitchen and I chased him up the shoe rack. He hissed and snarled at me and I barked my head off and then mommy had to come and carry me away to another room while this fella escaped. i think he was the same guy who was sitting on the window sill the other day, didn't realise the window was open and fell onto the work area HA HA HA too bad i missed it.
